In Parliament once, Santiago Abascal head of Spain's Vox party told Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, “You are the worst in the past 80 years”—in other words, since the end of the Spanish Civil War, implying that even Francisco Franco’s government was better. “This caused a stir,” he says in an interview in his party’s headquarters, “and they demanded an apology. I said, ‘Fine, make it 800 years.’ ”
